Head Teacher's Message

CHS South opened in 2018 as an 11-16 eight-form entry school. It provides 240 places per year, creating a 1,200-student community. A brand-new building opened in September 2021. Headteacher David Prophet describes CHS South as a diverse, creative, and aspirational school with a broad enrichment curriculum, strong sports and arts provision, and a welcoming community.

Admissions Criteria

The school has a published admission number of 240 for Year 7. Admissions are administered through Manchester Local Authority. Oversubscription criteria include looked-after children or those who were previously looked after; exceptional medical or social needs or those of the parents (with evidence); siblings; a parent employed at CHS South for two years or more; and then all other children. Tie-break is distance-based; waiting lists are used; late applications may be considered after on-time offers.
