Admissions Criteria

Year 7 admissions for September 2026: 180 places; applicants must apply through their home Local Authority. All students applying to Leigh Academy Halley will be invited to sit a fair banding test to ensure that children across the full ability range are admitted. It is not possible to pass or fail the test, but those not sitting the test at all will only be prioritised after those children who have sat the test. In order to be invited to the test, in addition to the local authority application form, an online supplementary form must be completed and submitted to the academy – paper copies can be returned directly to the academy if internet access is not available. This must be done by the closing date of 31 October 2025. The Fair Banding Test is a non verbal reasoning paper and free resources can be downloaded via the GL Assessment website.
