SEND Provision

All teachers are responsible for meeting the needs of the children they work with. The school uses a Provision Map to identify and track pupils needing extra support. Pupils who require more significant help are identified as ‘School Support’ and an Additional Needs Plan is drawn up in consultation with parents, SENCO and other staff. The SENCO maintains an overview of SEN provision, and annual reviews are held for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. The school works with outside agencies as appropriate and provides staff training related to SEND.

Admissions Criteria

Admission arrangements follow Kirklees Primary School Admissions Policy. The Early Years Unit can offer 15 hours per week of free nursery provision (term-time), with sessions at 8:50-11:50. Priority for nursery places is given to Looked After Children, children on the child protection register or those at risk; children with exceptional medical, social or educational needs; those living in the Priority Admission Area (PAA); siblings; and other eligible children on age order. Waiting lists operate on the school’s admission criteria; there is no formal right of appeal for nursery provision as it is non-statutory. Full reception admissions are handled via Kirklees School Admissions.
