Provision for Deaf Children: Summerside has specialist provision for Deaf children, based at Summerside Primary Academy. Deaf children are fully integrated into mainstream classes with support provided by Teachers of the Deaf (TOD) and Communication Support Workers (CSW). All children learn sign in British Sign Language (BSL) in songs.
Reception places are offered to start in September regardless of birth date. Reception admissions are handled centrally by Barnet Local Authority and you must apply electronically on www.eadmissions.org.uk. Nursery fees and hours: Morning session 8.45-11.45am (Mon–Fri); Afternoon session 12.30-3.30pm (Mon–Fri); 30 hours Free Entitlement – 8.45–3.30pm (with additional charges £50 per week including lunch or £35 per week if your own packed lunch). 30 hours Not Entitled – 8.45–3.30pm (additional charges £150 per week including lunch or £135 per week if your own packed lunch). 30-hour places are also available at no extra cost for eligible families; mornings only arrangements available.
