Curriculum Highlights

Text-based learning approach that supports discussion, creativity and deeper thinking. A focus on knowledge progression, progression of skills, and progression of oracy. Progression model with three cognitive domains: Basic, Advancing, Deep. In-unit progress and proof-of-progress tasks to assess independent application of learning. Progress over time through independent work, responses, talk and application across the term. Monitoring and Review activities (learning walks, pupil voice, book looks, data analysis, planning scrutiny) to evaluate curriculum impact. The Barnfield Way emphasizes positive relationships, clear explanations and modelling, opportunities for talk and collaboration, high-quality questioning, responsive teaching, purposeful practice, meaningful challenge and a calm, inclusive learning environment.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

Breakfast club runs from 8:00–8:10am, cost £3 per day; bookings must be made via the Arbor app. After School Club (ASC) is provided in-house; two pickup times are available: 4:15pm and 5:15pm; charges are: 4:15pm session £5.00 and 5:15pm session £8.00; bookings must be made in advance by 2:30pm.

Admissions Criteria

Our admission arrangements are arranged by Barnet Council. To apply, you must apply to Barnet Council via www.eadmissions.org.uk. Nursery has part-time sessions (8:30am–11:30am and 12:30pm–3:30pm) and full-time places for 30 hours childcare. Full-time nursery runs 8:30am–3:30pm with a 60-minute lunch break. Reception intake for September 2026 requires applications by 15 January 2026. See Barnet Council admissions information for details.
