Facilities

The Nest (Inclusion Centre) – includes outdoor areas, a sensory room and a soft playroom Nursery facilities including open plan classroom, sensory room, conservatory for messy play, designated outdoor play and a garden, and a multipurpose large room Library School hall (used for lunches and PE) Main academy building upgraded under PSBP2 (completed Feb 2020)

Curriculum Highlights

EYFS follows the Early Years Statutory Framework Reading is central with the Letters and Sounds phonics programme Maths uses a mastery approach focusing on key skills of number, pattern, calculation and shape Inclusion with targeted intervention programmes (e.g., Early Talk Boost) Play-based learning with continuous provision and opportunities for independent learning Parental involvement through transitions, nursery/home visits, stay and play sessions, parent workshops and use of Tapestry (Online Learning Journeys)

SEND Provision

The Nest is an Inclusion Centre for 24 children with complex needs; admission to The Nest is via the Portsmouth SEND Team; some mainstream lessons may be accessed by Nest pupils; Nest includes three classes (Owls, Robins, Wrens) and outdoor/sensory facilities.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions are handled by Portsmouth City Council for start in September and for in-year applications; Nest admissions handled by the Portsmouth SEND Team with no automatic priority for mainstream pupils; Nursery admissions handled directly by the school; Admissions Policy documents are available for 2025-2026 and 2026-2027.
