Admissions Criteria

We are a non-selective, non-denominational secondary school for local children aged 11 to 16 and we have a very simple and open approach to admissions. We are able to offer 320 new places in Year 7 each year. If your child was born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, you can apply online for a place at secondary school for them from 14 July 2025. This will be for the academic year starting in September 2026. Online applications close on Friday 31st October 2025. Applications for places at our academy are made through Barnsley Council. If there are more applications than places or if the year group is full, we prioritise applications in the following order: 1. Looked After Children and Previously Looked After Children 2. Siblings of current pupils who will still be on roll when the child joins us 3. By straight line distance. You can find out more information in our published admissions policies by clicking on our policy page
