Homework club (afterschool).
Barnsley Academy provides SEND support in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2014). SENDCO is Emily Thompson-O'Brien. Interventions include Numeracy, Emotional Mentoring, SALT (speech and language therapy), Motor Skills, Regulation support, and Homework club (afterschool). The academy works with external agencies (SALT, Educational Psychologist, CAMHS, Occupational Therapist, Paediatrician, Physiotherapist, vision/hearing services, Local Authority SEN/Inclusion Team) and uses baseline assessments (e.g., MiDYAS) to identify needs; staff provide inclusive, quality-first teaching with differentiated resources and in-class support.
Year 7 intake of 180 students. Admissions via Barnsley Council Co-ordinated Scheme. Oversubscription criteria include Looked After Children, sibling link, medical conditions, and distance. Appeals available through Independent Admission Appeals Panel; transferring between schools considered with guidance from Barnsley Council.
