Clubs
Babington Academy admissions are managed by Leicester City Council. In years when applications exceed places, the following oversubscription criteria apply in order: 1) Children in the care of a local authority or who were previously in the care of a local authority; 2) Children who were previously in care outside England; 3) Pupils who have a serious medical condition or exceptional social or domestic needs that make it essential they attend the school; 4) Children whose home address is in the catchment area with a sibling at the school who will still be on roll when the applicant starts school in Years 8–10; 5) Children whose home address is outside the catchment area with a sibling at the school who will still be on roll when the applicant starts school in Years 8–10; 6) Children whose home address is in the catchment area; 7) Children whose home address is outside the catchment area and who have requested a place. Within each criterion, priority is given to children living closest to the school. A “looked after” child is defined as a child in local authority care or provided with accommodation by the local authority; a “previously looked after” child is one who was looked after but ceased to be because of adoption or guardianship orders. A “sibling” is a brother/sister or certain related children living at the same address. Admissions information notes that Leicester City Council manages admissions and provides online applications; where a final place is offered to one child, remaining siblings may be offered places in some cases.
