"Ah, qu’il est bon, le Bon Dieu!"
Notre Dame Plymouth is a Catholic comprehensive school for girls, part of a worldwide network founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame; faith is described as being at the heart of all we do and the school embraces a mission inspired by St Julie.
Notre Dame Plymouth provides a wide range of advice and support for students at each stage of their school life. We review our programme every year so that students are offered the most up to date package of information and support. Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) is provided; a variety of advice and guidance days and evenings are available; Progress Reviews are sent home three times a year. The Baker Clause requires providers to be given access; management of provider access requests is outlined; students in years 8-13 are entitled to hear from providers about technical qualifications and apprenticeships. Careers guidance is delivered through PSHE and form tutors, with 1:1 meetings with a Careers South West adviser, work experience in Year 11, and various employer and Higher Education events. ICT tools (e.g., Career Pilot) are used to support career decisions. Opportunities for employer interactions and university visits are provided; ND Sixth offers a range of pathways including GCSEs, BTECs and ASDAN; there are dedicated 1:1 careers interviews and a Personal Careers Advisor. The programme is periodically evaluated and updated.
Admission priorities are: 1) Catholic Looked After Children and previously looked after children (within the stated priority framework); 2) other Catholic children; 3) other looked after children and those adopted; 4) children with exceptional social or medical needs supported by evidence from a medical or social work professional; 5) Catechumens and members of Eastern Christian Churches; 6) siblings of pupils on roll; 7) children at a named linked school; 8) children who regularly attend other Christian denominations; 9) children of staff employed at the school for more than two years or recruited in the past two years to fill a vacancy; 10) other children. The arrangement is governed by the Plymouth CAST admissions policies and supplementary faith information forms.
