Curriculum Highlights

Two principal aims: provide opportunities for all students to learn to their highest potential and to develop their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Academic year organised in six terms with standardised formal assessments at least three times a year in each subject. Option process includes 10 subjects; core compulsory subjects are English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Combined Science, Religious Studies; Physical Education and PSHE are non-examinable. Bespoke tutorial programme with Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education and a Careers programme; Progress Tracker provided three times a year.

SEND Provision

Plympton Academy provides SEND support with a named SENDCo and Deputy SENDCo, differentiated lessons delivered by qualified teachers, 1:1 intervention sessions (e.g., Emotion Regulation), small group interventions (e.g., social skills), TA support in lessons, staffed rooms from 8.00am before school, the SEND area known as 'The Bridge', Homework Support Club (Tue–Fri 3.15–3.50pm), enhanced transition arrangements from primary school and to post-16, and collaboration with external agencies (Local Authority SEND Support Team, Educational Psychology Service, Speech and Language Therapists, CAMHS, PIAS, etc.).
