Curriculum Highlights

Maths taught using the White Rose scheme with a mastery approach; concrete–pictorial–abstract (CPA) progression; introductory emphasis on subitising and number sense; recall of multiplication tables up to 12×12 by Year 4. Read Write Inc phonics in Early Years; three-stage reading progression: Early Reader, Developing Reader, Independent Reader; well-stocked library for independent reading. Philosophy for Children (P4C) weekly across all year groups to develop thinking. Spelling Shed used to support spelling from Year 1 upwards; focus on National Curriculum spelling rules and common exception words. Reading across the curriculum with emphasis on high-utility vocabulary and comprehension; use of a variety of texts. Forest School enrichment and outdoor learning as part of the curriculum.

Loatlands Primary School admission criteria priority order: Looked After Children and all previously Looked After Children (including those named in an EHC Plan); Children who live in the Braybrooke linked area; Children with a sibling link continuing at the school; Children who live closer to the school than another; Other children. Distance tiebreakers apply; measurements are carried out in a straight line from home to the school; in shared dwellings a randomiser may be used to decide priority in the event of a tie.
