Anna Dobson, Headteacher, welcomes visitors and describes Kirkby High School as an 11-16 mixed comprehensive of around 1,000 students. An ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum that is supported by extra-curricular activities to develop confidence and independence. A curriculum that instils a love of learning across all subjects and encourages students to have the highest aspirations with support to achieve them. A curriculum underpinned by understanding the needs of all students to help them progress to their next phase as mature, responsible and successful individuals. Key Stage 3 Curriculum with a 25-hour teaching week and subject-by-subject weekly allocations. Key Stage 4 Curriculum with 25 teaching hours, core subjects plus three options, and a PD/Core PE component. Setting arrangements across subjects (mixed vs ability-based sets by subject and year). Options process including an Options Evening, career involvement, and one-to-one interviews to discuss post-16 routes.
