Curriculum Highlights

EYFS structure with three prime areas (Communication & Language; Physical Development; Personal, Social & Emotional development) and four specific areas (Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts & Design); learning through play and integrated topics; Letters and Sounds phonics programme. KS1 subjects include English, Maths, Science, Computing, Geography, History, Art, Design Technology, Physical Education and Religious Education, plus PSHE & Citizenship and Phonics; topics link subjects together. Maths follows a Teaching for Mastery approach and uses real-life contexts; aims to develop number, shape, space and statistics understanding and uses National Curriculum objectives. Computing is integrated into topic-based learning; uses Apple iPads and staff training to build a varied skill set. Phonics uses Letters and Sounds; LLIP (Luton Literacy Improvement Programme) supports additional needs. The curriculum information is published per year termly and year group information sessions are held to discuss staffing, topics and homework.
