Curriculum Highlights

Quran: 4 Qur’an lessons per week in Primary and 2 lessons per week in Secondary; memorisation and understanding of selected surahs in High School. Quran with Tajweed and Tafseer; daily prayers (Salah) embedded in daily routine; memorisation of duas. Arabic as a Modern Foreign Language: 2 lessons per week from Year 1 with emphasis on speaking and listening. Phonics and early reading: Daily phonics; higher phase sounds; High Frequency Words; use of Oxford Reading Tree and Collins Reading app in class and at home. Centre for Exceptional Children Curriculum (CFEC): Bespoke curriculums and personalised timetables; weekly SEN SOS surgeries; differentiated interventions; assessment data analysis to guide support. EYFS/National Curriculum integration: Early Years Foundation Stage guidance adhered to; National Curriculum taught across Primary and Secondary with Islamic ethos integrated.

SEND Provision

Centre for Exceptional Children provides SEND support in four ways: (1) EHCP students may be educated in the SEN Centre with a bespoke curriculum; (2) EHCP students may be educated in the Mainstream Academy with access to differentiated support; (3) weekly SEN SOS surgeries to offer guidance; (4) the SEN Centre analyses assessment data to identify students who score below threshold for targeted interventions. Opened June 2022 and ongoing development to accommodate varying needs.

Financial Information

North Road Nursery provides free childcare (to those entitled) over 38 weeks per year during term time. Free 15 hours of childcare/early education for 3- and 4-year-olds usually from the start of the term after the child’s 3rd birthday.
