Headteacher Mr J Mitchell states Overthorpe C of E Academy is more than a school and aims to be the heart of the community, inspiring a passion for learning within a safe, caring, Christian environment; SIAMs report was excellent; staff, governors, parents and pupils work together to support children to learn in school and for life.

Curriculum Highlights

Broad National Curriculum coverage including English, Maths, Science, RE, PSHE, Music, French, PE, Geography, History, Art and Design, Computing and Design Technology English curriculum includes handwriting with Kinetic Letters; Little Wandle phonics; Cracking Spelling for spelling; reading practice groups five times per week; 1:1 reading support as needed Phonics taught daily in Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 using the Little Wandle scheme; spelling taught from Year 1 using Cracking Spelling

Wraparound Care

Owls Wrap Around Care; provision opens at 7:30am and ends at 6:00pm, providing before and after school care (Owls) along with wrap-around arrangements.
