Head Teacher's Message

Welcome to Dunsville Primary School. We are a warm, friendly community where children are at the heart of everything we do. In September 2019 we joined The Brighter Futures Learning Partnership Trust (which formed from local like‑minded primary schools joining with Hungerhill S econdary School), and in September 2020 Doncaster University Technical College became part of our Trust. We have a knowledge‑based curriculum and provide Personal Development opportunities such as visiting speakers, after‑school clubs, educational visits, and a Pupil Parliament, aligning with our Trust pledges.

Curriculum Highlights

Knowledge-based curriculum with progression and vocabulary development Interleaving curriculum allowing revisiting knowledge across subjects Curriculum content carefully chosen by subject experts in collaboration with a Trust in London Maths taught through a mastery approach with concrete, pictorial and abstract representations, including reasoning and problem solving Reciprocal Reading and Talk for Writing to develop reading and writing across the curriculum Direct vocabulary teaching and Tier 2 word development, including word gardens and knowledge organisers Use of Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction to present information in small steps with explicit modelling Triangulation of outcomes to measure impact: pupil voice, teacher assessment, low stakes testing, planning and book scrutiny, lesson observations and stakeholder discussions
