Admissions Criteria

All children admitted to Stephenson Academy have an Education, Health and Care Plan. The majority of children are admitted between ages 9 (Year 5) and 11 (Year 7). Referrals are managed by the Local Authority Special Educational Needs Department; the final admission decision rests with a Senior SEN Manager. If a place is offered, parents complete a few forms. Informal visits may be arranged; decisions remain the responsibility of the Local Authority SEN Team. If all parties are in agreement that Stephenson Academy is the right provision, admission occurs at the beginning of Autumn 1, Spring 1 or Summer 1.
