Curriculum Highlights

Key Stage 3 curriculum is described as broad, ambitious and challenging, with a learning journey and descriptors for each year. There are Attitude to Learning descriptors and a Personal Development programme; teachers use learning journeys and subject descriptors to track progress and communicate with parents. Key Stage 4 curriculum requires English (Language and Literature) and Mathematics, and includes 2 GCSEs in Combined Science (or Triple Science). Personal Development and Citizenship and Core PE are non-examination components. Students choose 4 GCSE or equivalent qualifications from a list including Art, Business Studies, Computer Science, Design & Technology, Drama, English, Food Preparation & Nutrition, French, Geography, Health & Social Care, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Religious Studies, Sociology, Textile Design, BTEC Travel & Tourism, and Triple Science. Classes are taught by subject specialists.

SEND Provision

The SEND information indicates a dedicated Learning Support team working with teaching and pastoral staff to provide holistic support for students with additional needs. The school has a suite of inclusion rooms as a central hub for access to support, help, and space to regulate. Interventions include Cognition and Learning (e.g., KS3 Phonics, WordShark, Reading Plus, Book Buddies), bespoke Maths interventions, Whole School Literacy, and support for Communication and Interaction (including IN1 Unstructured Time and Construction Therapy). Additional supports include use of communication cards, work with Autism Outreach, Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA), Mental Health Support Team (MHST), a School Counsellor, and Sensory/Physical supports. Enrichment opportunities and Student Leadership Group are highlighted as activities in which students participate.

The Roundhill Academy lists a planned admission limit of 150 pupils per year.
