SEND Provision

Cardinal Hume Catholic School is inclusive; Learning Support Department provides SEND support with Quality First Teaching and curriculum adaptations; some pupils follow smaller or parallel pathways, including additional teaching groups for pupils with more complex needs; intervention may be 1:1 or small group; staff may be Learning Support Assistants; SENCo allocates staff; liaises with external agencies (High Incidence Needs Team, Low Incidence Needs Team, Children and Young People’s Service, Speech and Language Therapy, Gateshead Psychology Service); literacy and numeracy interventions are provided; transition and attendance supports are in place; a school counsellor and Rainbow bereavement program are available.

Admissions Criteria

The Governing Body is the admissions authority; Gateshead Local Authority coordinates admission arrangements. Year 7 entry is via Gateshead LA online system (open 8 Sep 2025 – 31 Oct 2025). Offers issued 2 Mar 2026; waiting lists maintained according to published criteria; in-year transfers handled by Gateshead Council. There is a faith criterion with a Supplementary Information Form; Sixth Form admissions have separate information. Appeals are handled by Gateshead Council.
