"Aspire to Greatness"
The Head Teacher introduction notes that Ofsted rated the school ‘GOOD’ in all categories and outlines the ethos of Aspire to Greatness, an academy of opportunity with extensive extracurriculars, including outdoor pursuits and the Duke of Edinburgh Award, aiming for students to be model citizens and to learn with high expectations of achievement, behaviour and uniform.

The Dorcan Academy admission principle is to maintain the character of a 11–16 comprehensive community school. There is no guarantee of a place for children from feeder primary schools (Covingham Park, Eldene, Goddard Park, Liden, Nythe), but they are given priority in oversubscription. The school will endeavour to provide places for students who have not attended a named feeder school if accommodation allows. Applications must be made through the Swindon Borough Council Local Authority Co-ordinated Scheme. The school’s admissions officer is Mrs Titcombe. For visits and tours, contact Mrs Hitchen.
