Head Teacher's Message

Headmaster Dr S N Bird welcomes visitors to King Edward VI Five Ways School. He notes the Foundation places the school among the Grammar Schools in Birmingham, and that it is the only fully co-educational grammar school in the King Edward VI Foundation and Academy Trust. The school serves about 900 students aged 11–16 and 400 in the Sixth Form. He emphasizes a grammar school ethos with a balance of academic, pastoral and extracurricular provision and invites people to contact the school to arrange a visit.

Admissions Criteria

The qualifying score for entry in September 2025 will remain at 205; the priority score will be 224. Entrance to Year 7 is via the Birmingham Grammar Schools entrance test with test registration openings and deadlines listed (e.g., 6 May 2025 opening, 13 June 2025 adjustments deadline, 28 June 2025 registration deadline, 13 September 2025 Entrance Test). 11+ results are released 27 October 2025; National Offer Day is 2 March 2026. In-year admissions: the school currently has no vacancies; applications go to a waiting list if no place is offered. Applicants must be resident in the UK.
