SEND provision includes Quality First teaching, catch-up sessions for Year 7, a Read On literacy programme, a specialist SEND teacher and HLTA support, a SENDCO and a deputy SENDCO, a SEND Administrator, and progress leaders. There are examples of one-to-one support and targeted strategies; families can discuss needs with the SENDCO (Mrs Kate Burt) and refer for SEND assessment as needed. The school identifies four broad SEND areas (Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social/Emotional/Msychological Health, and Sensory/Physical).
Year 7 admissions criteria: 1) EHC plan naming the school, 2) Looked After or Previously Looked After, 3) pupil with a sibling at the school, 4) a parent is a member of staff, 5) up to 30% of places outside the Kettering boundary with closest priority; remaining places for those within the boundary with closest priority; tie-breaker is random allocation if only one place remains; waiting lists may be held; appeals handled by an independent panel.
