"Achieving Ambitions"
Headteacher Philip White reports that Ofsted described Hayesfield as a ‘good’ school with an ‘outstanding’ Sixth Form on a Section 8 monitoring inspection. He highlights the school’s motto ‘Achieving Ambitions,’ a culture of high aspiration, strong reading and literacy focus in the curriculum, extensive leadership opportunities (e.g., Book-Eyrie), and ongoing use of partnerships within the MNSP to support student achievement and progression.
Sports
Hayesfield is an oversubscribed school. Priority for admission is given first to looked-after children or those who were looked after but ceased to be so because of adoption or special guardianship, then to children of staff meeting certain criteria, and then to applicants with aptitude in sport (up to 10 places) and in music (up to 10 places). After these groups, places are allocated based on catchment: 80% of remaining places to children living within the Bath City Boundary (inner catchment) and 20% to those living beyond the Bath City Boundary. A tie-break is applied based on distance from home to the Upper Oldfield Park Campus. The school maintains waiting lists and offers appeals via an independent BANES process. The Year 7 Admissions Timeline is published (Offer Day, deadlines, appeals). In-Year admissions follow a similar criteria and process.
