FGS operates a whole-school inclusive SEND approach. The SENDCo is Mr Andrew Wexler (Assistant Vice Principal). There are nine dedicated Teaching Assistants in the SEND department. Additional support includes small group sessions, withdrawal interventions, and access to external agencies (Educational Psychology/Speech and Language Therapy/Sensory Support Service). EHCPs are reviewed at annual reviews. The school uses Zones of Regulation to support emotional regulation. Parents/carers are kept informed via the school planner, meetings, and regular communications. A SEND report for 2024/5 is available.
FGS is an 11-16 academy with admission normally taking place at age 11. The catchment area is the M41 postcode (and adjacent M32 and M31). Oversubscription criteria are: Looked After Children; Children of staff employed at the school for two or more years or recruited to fill a vacant post; Children who will have a sibling attending the school; Children who live in the catchment area; Children who live nearest to the school (measured in a direct straight line). If more applicants than places, priority goes to those in criteria 1-4 with nearer residence. Proof of residency may be required. Right of Appeal is provided. Online waiting lists are available for Trafford residents; in-year admissions require Trafford Admissions. If offered a place, families are invited to visit. Appeals are handled via Trafford Council’s process.
