Head Teacher's Message

Queen Mary’s High School is an 11–18 selective, state grammar school with Academy status. It admits girls in Years 7–11 and has a co-educational Sixth Form. The school is described as outstanding with a strong record of high GCSE and A-Level results, a long-standing tradition of excellence, and a commitment to pastoral care and developing students to realise their potential in a vibrant, inclusive community.

Admissions Criteria

Admission to Year 7 is determined by performance in an entrance examination and the availability of places. The school is an Academy and the Governors, not the Local Authority, are responsible for the admission arrangements. There is no catchment area; all parents living within or beyond the Borough of Walsall may apply for their daughters to be admitted to Years 7–11 and their daughters and sons may be admitted to Year 12. Admission is by selection by ability, using standardised tests of verbal, numerical and non-verbal reasoning, with results standardised by age.

Financial Information

The school provides free education; there is no charge or cost related to the admission of a child to the school.
