Headteacher Miss Claire White emphasises Bodmin College’s commitment to inclusive, knowledge-rich education within a safe, calm learning environment. The school aims to nurture strong relationships, high expectations, and a broad, experience-rich curriculum. The mission is to provide a great quality of education so that every child can live a life full of choice and boundless opportunities, with ongoing staff development and opportunities for students to take risks and grow.

Curriculum Highlights

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) curriculum structured around two learning cycles (about 18 weeks each) with regular assessments; CELT Chronicles framework guiding teaching and progress checks. Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11) structured around GCSE preparation with planned assessment points including Walkthrough Mocks and PPEs. Curriculum overview resources for KS3 and KS4 (Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10, Year 11) and Year 10 Knowledge Organiser. Reading & Literacy focus including a Whole-School Reading Programme, NGRT reading tests, and targeted Reading Interventions (Fresh Start Phonics, IDL, Precision Teaching). Great Debate sessions in Years 7–10 to develop oracy and critical thinking. Reading interventions and progression tracking to close gaps and raise attainment.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions into Year 7 are via the Local Authority where the child lives. After receiving the Unique Identification Number (UID), applications can be made online or via a paper form downloaded from the Local Authority’s website. Open Evening is hosted each September/October, with guided school tours available. For admissions into other year groups, applications should go through Cornwall Council admissions on a case-by-case basis, with a waiting list and potential appeal if a place is not allocated.
