Headteacher describes On Track as a safe, happy and stimulating school that uses a flexible Thrive approach and provides a bespoke curriculum tailored to each student’s needs, with a curriculum designed around each student’s EHCP and a trauma-informed, caring environment focused on social and emotional development.
Pupils are usually referred to us by their local authority, but if your child has an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), you can also request a place through your local authority’s SEND team. We accept pupils throughout the academic year. The school responds to local authority referrals within 15 calendar days, stating whether and how it can meet the needs of the young person. The local authority will often consult with multiple schools to see who can best meet the needs of your child as outlined in their EHCP. A placement is made after a discussion with parents/carers and relevant professionals to ascertain if On Track can meet the child’s needs. All pupils are entitled to an enhanced transition, which will be bespoke to their needs, and timetables are designed around individual EHCPs.
