Ethos & Values

"Excellence for all"

Ambition Respect Resilience

Carlton Keighley promotes SMSC including Modern British Values, democracy, liberty, the rule of law, and mutual respect for diverse faiths and beliefs; the school emphasises openness to different cultures and beliefs as part of its broader curriculum.

Head Teacher's Message

Welcome to Carlton Keighley. We are a community-focused, caring and inclusive school with high standards of behaviour and academics; we prioritise literacy and wider personal development, and our Carlton Edge programme provides experiences beyond the academic.

Curriculum Highlights

Carlton Edge provides wider curricular entitlements beyond the classroom (assemblies, specialist workshops, theatre and the arts, sporting activities, educational visits and extra-curricular opportunities). At KS3, 20 of 29 lessons are core Ebacc subjects, with 65% of students accessing all Ebacc elements including Spanish. The curriculum emphasises literacy development at all levels to build vocabulary, reading, and extended writing. Dedicated PSHCE time covers careers guidance, preparation for work, enterprise, safety, British Values and citizenship.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions are processed through Bradford local authority's process for applying to secondary schools; the academy provides an Admissions Policy and Oversubscription Criteria.
