Saturn class is a provision for primary school aged children who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It provides personalised learning within an integrated setting, with an emphasis on developing social relationships and communication, guided by Speech and Language Therapy. The class operates with a ratio of two pupils to one member of staff, opened in 2009, and uses the SPELL approach and TEACCH-inspired structure. Each child has a personalised learning plan written in liaison with the class teacher and SLT, and progress is reviewed termly.
Discovery LARP admissions are considered during the EHC needs assessment or annual review process. A termly Admissions Panel by Royal Borough of Greenwich SEND will review applications. Attendance at Discovery Primary School does not grant priority for access to the LARP. Admissions criteria include evidence of an ASD diagnosis, ongoing input from ASD Outreach, Personalised Learning Plans showing ASD interventions, recent SALT evidence, most recent Annual Review, and other appropriate professional advice (less than 12 months).
