Ethos & Values

"Heart Speaks to Heart (Cor ad cor loquitur)"

Curiosity Confidence Endeavour Integrity Joy Kindness Respect

The Catholic Faith and the two chapels are central to the school’s life, ethos and identity. Mass is offered daily in the old chapel; on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, Mass is celebrated in the main chapel with the whole school community. The Chaplain provides pastoral care and support, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in the school Chapel. The school welcomes pupils from Catholic and other Christian backgrounds as well as those with no religious background, and is rooted in Catholic heritage while being open to all faiths or none.

Head Teacher's Message

Mr Matthew Fogg became Head Master of The Oratory School in April 2025. He emphasizes building on the school’s academic performance and sporting achievements, and aims to help pupils develop leadership, teamwork, resilience, compassion and generosity of spirit, so they can do well and do good. He and his family moved to The Oratory to lead a school rooted in Catholic heritage and to help pupils flourish spiritually and academically, socially and athletically.

Curriculum Highlights

All academic subjects are taught in small classes by specialists who aim to inspire a genuine love of learning. Pupils follow the GCSE and A Level curricula, with the Extended Project Qualification offered in 6th Form. Pupils have a wide A Level curricular offering delivered in small classes with one-to-one support from tutors and subject specialists. Loquitur Programme (6th Form enrichment) covers critical thinking, leadership training and careers. One-to-one attention is at the heart of the school’s approach due to its smaller size.
