"Our motto: “It can happen here and it probably is”"
Headteacher Mr G Whitaker describes Settle College as a successful, vibrant and thriving school where innovation, creativity, enterprise and a sense of fun and enjoyment are encouraged, valued and celebrated. The aim is to enable every student to succeed and achieve their full potential within a challenging yet safe environment, with high‑quality teaching supported by exceptional pastoral care.
Settle College is an 11-18 comprehensive school. It welcomes students in Years 7 to 13 and admits without assessment of ability. Places are normally provided for children living in the local area, and applications from outside the local area are also considered. Admissions are handled by North Yorkshire Council (NYC); all enquiries and applications must be directed to NYC in the first instance. Year 6 pupils from catchment primary schools must still submit a formal Year 7 application via NYC, and parents can express a preference for state-funded schools; timelines and guidance are on the NYC website (How to Apply). NYC provides information on moving up, changing schools, admissions policies, home–to–school transport, etc.
