Rowden House School offers individualised education and care for children and young people aged 11 to 19 with autism, severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Located in Herefordshire with extensive grounds and woodlands, the school aims to guide students through long-term programmes of formal and informal education, promote positive self-image and informed choice, and invites visitors to learn more by visiting.

Admissions Criteria

Rowden House School admits young people with special education needs resulting from severe learning disability, often with challenging behaviour. Diagnoses include Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Down’s Syndrome, Tourette’s, Fragile X, Angelman’s, Cerebral Palsy, Tuberous Sclerosis, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. Medical needs include Epilepsy and Diabetes, and the school accommodates a range of dietary requirements. A Referrals team liaises with the school; if the Head Teacher believes a pupil fits the registration provision, an official offer is made to the lead agency and the transition process is arranged with parents/guardians. A transition programme helps families meet staff and current students, and the school invites online enquiries.
