"Where learning has no limits"
On behalf of the pupils, staff and governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to Saxon Wood School. Saxon Wood provides specialist provision for pupils aged 2-11 with a range of additional needs, including mild, severe and profound multiple learning difficulties. We are a small school with capacity for 44 pupils and this allows us to maintain small class sizes with a high ratio of teachers and learning support assistants who get to know our pupils really well as individuals and personalise the learning to suit their individual needs. We have a range of specialist rooms and areas, including a sensory room, an interactive ‘magic carpet’ room, therapy room, and soft play room. Outside, our extensive, purpose-built external school grounds offer lots of opportunities for outdoor learning. At Saxon Wood, every individual is valued. We recognise that our pupils have many barriers to learning and so we aim to deliver a curriculum that offers motivation and purpose for each individual and builds on and celebrates each small step of progress. Our enriched curriculum is designed to provide our pupils with a breadth of quality learning experiences that enrich their lives, whilst also building on key communication, functional, social and life skills that will better equip them for life outside and beyond Saxon Wood. Our aspirational curriculum pathways ensure the pupils receive the correct provision and achieve the best possible outcomes, suited to their needs. Our dedicated team work closely with parents, carers and a range of professionals to ensure that we meet the very diverse learning and communication needs of our pupils and support them to overcome or manage their barriers to learning. We are proud of our unique school where we can confidently say: Saxon Wood School – “Where learning has no limits.”
