Curriculum Highlights

PLLUSS Curriculum: a person-centred whole approach designed to enable students to learn functional skills and experience a range of activities in settings where they are comfortable and relaxed. Waking Day Curriculum: learning takes place throughout the waking day with regular sensory activities to help the child remain calm and ready to learn. Pupil Premium: funding identified for each student’s needs to support learning and development (e.g., personalised technological equipment, therapy, holidays, etc.). Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education: opportunities to promote SBMCE across the waking day curriculum, including daily access to the Tranquility Garden and visits to places of culture and faith. Relationships and Sex Education: delivered through a whole-school approach with key messages reinforced in daily activities. Vocational and Careers Education: community-based vocational work, school-based activities (e.g., juice bar, tuck shop, café), mini-enterprise schemes (Loddon Shop, horticulture produce) and focus on life skills for adulthood.

Admissions Criteria

Essential Criteria include: EHCP; severe learning difficulties; communication disorder or delay (often non-verbal); autistic tendencies/diagnosis; severely challenging behaviour including self-injury and/or violence toward others and/or property destruction; exclusion or threat of exclusion from school or residential care; inability to be cared for full-time at home because of the need for 24-hour support; additional medical needs such as epilepsy.
