Information extracted from the school's own website
Fairisle Junior School provides additional and/or different provision for a range of needs, including communication and interaction (e.g., autistic spectrum disorders, speech and language difficulties), cognition and learning (e.g., dyslexia, dyspraxia), social, emotional and mental health difficulties (e.g., ADHD), and sensory and/or physical needs (e.g., visual or hearing impairments, processing difficulties, epilepsy). Provision is decided by the class teacher and SENCO, with many pupils having IEPs. The school follows a graduated approach with assess-plan-do-review cycles, uses external services when needed, offers interventions and 1:1 or small-group support, and may seek Education, Health and Care Plans. It signspost to Southampton Local Offer and works with many external agencies. The SEND team includes a dedicated SENCO, 1:1 TAs, and inclusion staff; transition plans are made between phases; and the school aims to enable inclusive participation in trips and activities.
