St Benedict’s Catholic College serves Christian families in north-east Essex, promotes values of the Christian faith, and aims to nurture spiritual, emotional and academic growth within an inclusive community. Learning takes place in specialist rooms with the latest technology; the campus includes spacious grounds with hard play areas, playing fields and tennis courts, a well-equipped sports hall and fitness suite; the chapel is used regularly for worship, prayer and quiet reflection; the school highlights opportunities for students to thrive through high-quality teaching and numerous extra-curricular activities.

Admissions Criteria

Year 7 intake to St Benedict’s Catholic College is 180 places. Parents must apply to the Local Authority and also complete the college’s Supplementary Information Form (deadline: 31 October for Local Authority applications; the Supplementary Information Form should be returned to the college by 31 October). If applications exceed places, admissions criteria will be applied. The National Offer Date is 1 March (or the first working day after); offers are sent out by first class mail on that date. Mid-Year Applications are handled via the Mid Year Application Form and Supplementary Information Form, with applications ranked according to the admissions criteria. There is a waiting list. Procedures exist for Right to Appeal and for disabled pupils (admissions for pupils with a Statement of SEND are dealt with by a separate procedure; contact SEND).
