SEND Provision

The Basildon Academies Trust runs in-house Enhanced Provisions to provide SEMH support for young people in line with Trauma Perceptive Practice principles. Each EP student has a key worker who is responsible for their journey on the EP pathway. When curriculum content is delivered and One Planning indicates it is time for mainstream transition, EP students will have access to high quality teaching via subject specialists. Key workers are members of SEND staff who can support in class, in mainstream and through touch base sessions. All EP staff are involved in the assess, plan, do, review process for students. Centre Leads (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads for the EP) attend fortnightly BAT provisions panels to review student progress and plan reintegration into mainstream. The Director of Enhanced Provisions leads as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and SENCO for EP students, supported by Centre Leads. The teams work collaboratively with SENCOs and DSLs from referring schools. There are teaching assistants, student development champions and attendance officers supporting the provision directly. Staff have access to universal training and specialist CPD (e.g., Autism Education Trust resources, Thrive online, Positive handling training, Essex Local Authority SEND training, qualifications in SEMH/ ASD/ ADHD, Careers related learning qualifications, IOSH).
