The life of Swanbourne House is set within a broad Christian ethos. The school community gathers in its own Chapel and in St Swithun’s, the local parish church. The school leads main services at St Swithun’s. Boarding pupils also engage with the local community.

The school identifies SEND early and provides Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with SMART targets. Targeted intervention groups may be used, monitored by the SENDCo termly. A strong emphasis on emotional and social well‑being and an inclusive approach underpins provision.
Internal scholarships are offered each year to Year 6 in fields including Academic, Music, Sport, Art, Drama and/or Design & Technology. In 2019 Swanbourne replaced Common Entrance with the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate (PSB) as the entry model, with a final Baccalaureate Certificate accompanying transfer to senior schools.
