Welcome to Shaw-cum-Donnington C.E. Primary School. SEND provision follows the SEND Code of Practice. Identification of SEND is ongoing; pupils may be added to the SEND register and provided with a Support and Achievement Plan (SAP) or SAP Play Plan (SAPP) for Foundation Stage. The class teacher plans day-to-day education with the SENCo overseeing. Support is documented and reviewed termly; the school utilizes a range of interventions (e.g., Numicon, Keep-up Phonics, Handwriting, Proprioception, Draw and Talk) in small groups or 1:1. Access to external services (Early Development and Inclusion Team, Special Needs Advisory Teachers, Educational Psychologists, Cognition and Learning Team, Sensory Consortium, ASD advisory teachers, Therapeutic Thinking Support Team) and an outreach team from a local Special Needs School. Staff training is provided, and parents are involved via SAP/SAPP reviews and local authority surveys.
West Berkshire Council handles admissions. The school can admit up to 14 children into each year group. If more children apply than there are places, preference is given according to the criteria laid down by the education authority. Visits to the school are by appointment, and full admissions information is available through West Berkshire Council.
Provision for three to four year olds includes a morning/afternoon placement from 11:30am to 3:20pm (2:45pm Fridays) five days a week. Government funding may apply; if not eligible, care is £5.50 per hour. Universal 15 hours free; Extended hours = an additional 15 hours for eligible families.
