Calcot Schools keep a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) register of pupils who need support. Each child on the SEND register has a Success and Achievement Plan (SAP) with personalised targets. Interventions include a sensory hut, two Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) with nurture rooms; Precision Teaching; Read Write Inc; Language and Literacy Centres (in Year Five); Catch Up Reading; SNAP maths; AcceleRead/AcceleWrite. Interventions may be delivered one-to-one or in small groups and are reviewed regularly by the Inclusion Manager who is Miss E Kirkby; local offers for Calcot Infant and Junior Schools are linked.
The Governors will admit children in each school year up to, but not exceeding the school's Standard Number. Priority criteria (in order) are: 1) Children Looked After by West Berkshire Council; 2) Children whose home address is in the area served by the school; 3) Children who have brothers or sisters attending the school; 4) Children whose parents choose the school on denominational grounds; 5) Children whose parents have any other reason for their choice. If there are more applicants than places in a category, priority is given to those who fulfil more than one criterion; if still insufficient, distance from home to school is used. Parents of unsuccessful applicants will be informed in writing on the date laid down by the LA, with a right of appeal.
