Ravenswood has a dedicated SENCo (Cheri Frost, Deputy Headteacher) who ensures that guidance from other professionals supporting a child is incorporated into daily/weekly teaching and class routines. The SENCo monitors the quality of teaching and provides guidance to secure consistently good and outstanding teaching. The Headteacher (Mark Senior) is responsible for ensuring all children’s statements of SEN or Education Health Care Plans are up-to-date. Professionals who regularly visit the school include Advisory Teachers (for VI or HI), Educational Psychologist, Social workers, Speech and Language Therapist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Virtual School for Looked After Children, Music Therapy, Dance Therapy, CAMHS workers, and others. The school uses Person Centred Planning to involve pupils in their aspirations and future planning. It provides a Family Support Advisor, CAMHS support for behavioural guidance, and a Multi-Agency Support Team as part of its SEND provision. Interventions include Speech and Language interventions; Anger management; Building self-esteem; Developing self-control; Developing resilience; and use of TEACCH, Makaton signs, and visual timetables. There are lunchtime clubs and at least two after-school clubs each term, with additional signposting to community activities. Pupils’ views are gathered through pupil councils and Annual Reviews, and the school collaborates with other professionals to maximise progress and well-being.
