Monkseaton Middle School aims to create a nurturing yet challenging environment with a broad and balanced curriculum; the school’s ethos is We Excel, We Succeed, We Thrive; enrichment and residential trips are offered; staff pride in the school is high and families report positive experiences including effective bullying management.

Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum is rich, inclusive, and designed to be ambitious, broad and balanced with deep learning. The curriculum is underpinned by assemblies, pupil voice, tutorials, social times, wellbeing support, careers advice, enrichment visits and wide-ranging extracurricular provision. KS3 subjects are taught by subject specialists, while KS2 uses a primary-model approach for Maths and English with some foundation subjects.

Admissions Criteria

Admission arrangements to Monkseaton Middle School are arranged through the MMS Admissions Manager, except for admissions into Year 5 for the start of the academic year (September). In-Year Applications use the MMS In-Year Admission Application Form. Admissions Appeals Timetable 2025-26.
