Headteacher Mrs K Ashton describes Hendal Primary as an ambitious, nurturing and inclusive school where children, families and staff belong. She highlights high expectations, a curriculum with experiential learning, strong parent and community partnerships, and a focus on developing independent lifelong learners.

SEND Provision

Hendal Primary School provides SEND support via a dedicated SENCO and Learning Mentor, and delivers a range of interventions tailored to pupil needs, including Talk About, Lego Therapy, Teadorescu, Fit To Learn, Specific Learning Programme, Zones of Regulation, Self Esteem, Mindfulness and Meditation. The school collaborates with external agencies and refers to Local Offer, Occupational Therapy, CAMHS, Speech and Language, and School Nursing where appropriate.

Admissions Criteria

Hendal Primary admits pupils at the beginning of Autumn, Spring and Summer terms into Lower Foundation. It has a 39-place Nursery with part-time and full-time places, 15-hour sessions (morning or afternoon), and 30-hour places for eligible children. For full-time places, contact Wakefield LA Admissions (01924 305616). If the school is oversubscribed, Wakefield LA Admissions criteria apply. Open evenings are held to view EYFS provision; transition processes include visits and a transition pack.
