Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Mr P Barnett describes Purston Infant School as a warm, friendly and inclusive school that is proud to be a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted, Feb 2023). He emphasizes high aspirations, a broad curriculum, and the belief that every child deserves the best we can give, with staff and governors working to help children achieve academically, socially and emotionally while promoting health and wellbeing.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is delivered through a four-part cycle (assess, plan, do, review) with Wave 1 (quality first teaching), Wave 2 (small group support), and Wave 3 (individual packages; SEND register). The SENDCo is Mrs A Gascoyne. Pupils on SEND may have targeted support and individual timetables; Wakefield Local Offer resources are available.

Admissions Criteria
