Head Teacher's Message

Welcome to the website of Low Road and Windmill Music Federation in Leeds. I hope this provides you with a clear picture of how our Music Federation operates. Our aim is to raise the standards of achievement of all our children, and to give them the best possible life chances. We believe that we can build better futures because we offer a bespoke curriculum with a focus on culture and the arts.

Curriculum Highlights

Wraparound Care

Windmill Daycare is open Monday to Friday, 8.00am-6.00pm, 50 weeks of the year. We are closed for bank holidays and we are also shut between Christmas and the New Year. We have an additional 5 training days throughout the year and 10 early closures. Fees: Full day (8.00am-6.00pm) - £58.00 (includes breakfast, lunch and tea); Half day (8.00am-1.00pm) - £30.00 (includes breakfast and lunch); Half day (1.00pm-6.00pm) - includes tea. All sessions include fruit as a snack. Fees are to be paid at least weekly in advance. Settling in sessions are free; we recommend a minimum of 2 sessions per week for continuity. Extra sessions may be available subject to availability. Some children are entitled to 15 hours of government funded early years education; 30 hours funding is available for working parents. Additional hours are charged at £8 per hour. There is an additional charge for food if using 30 hours funding (£2.80 per meal, or you can provide a packed lunch).

SEND Provision

Federation SENDCO – Mrs. Louisa Milner; SEND Support Team across Windmill and Low Road; two classrooms with an admission limit of 16 across the partnership; partnership caters for pupils from Reception to Year 6 with SEND; higher staff-to-pupil ratios; staff skilled in Team Teach and SCERTS; mainstream lessons with one-to-one support where appropriate; Opera North delivers weekly sessions to develop musicianship; Zones of Regulation embedded to support self-regulation; Jane Considine approach for writing; Read Write Inc. used to support early readers and writers with daily phonics and reading.

Applications for places in Reception for September should be made via Leeds City Council Admissions Team.
