Message from the Headteacher: I am delighted to welcome you to Moldgreen. It is a special place where children are happy to learn. Moldgreen is a caring school with high expectations for all our pupils. We aim to prepare children to be useful, respectful citizens who can play a positive role in their communities, valuing faiths and traditions of others and helping develop enquiring minds to understand different points of view. Please contact us if you would like to look round our school or require any further information. - Helen Pearson
All children at Moldgreen Community Primary School benefit from high quality teaching which includes an appropriate curriculum which is differentiated to meet the needs of all learners. Teachers use a variety of teaching styles and a wide range of materials, and are highly aware of the needs of each student in their class. Assessment methods and materials are tailored to the needs of individual pupils so teachers are able to monitor the progress of all children very carefully. Sometimes children need additional support to make good progress. There are lots of ways in which the staff at Moldgreen aid this, including: small group support in class; individual support in class; small group work out of class; individual work out of class; specifically differentiated materials; nurture intervention; access to specific resources (use of technology, accessible materials, specific aids); access to outside agencies; behaviour support; specialist interventions. Progress of your child is monitored primarily by the class teacher. Pupil progress meetings are held half termly by the SLT to monitor progress and track children and ensure correct provision is in place to promote children’s development. Some children require specialist support from outside agencies, including speech and language therapists, an Educational Psychologist, Kirklees Specialist Provision outreach service, occupational therapy, hearing impairment, behaviour support, CAMHS counselling services, and Northorpe Hall. The school follows the SEND Code of Practice 2014 categories and has admission/transition arrangements aligned to Kirklees LA policy. Children with additional needs may have extra transition dates; the school notes how to seek help via the class teacher and SENDCo. The designated safeguarding lead is Mrs Szewczyk with deputies including Mrs Pearson, Mr Lonsdale and Mrs Munir. The school has information about local safeguarding links and operates as an Operation Encompass school, with information shared with police as appropriate.
Moldgreen follows the Kirklees LA admission policy. Any parent wishing to register their child for a place is invited to visit the school and talk to a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Please contact the school office on 01484 226681 for an appointment.
