"Where students are known, nurtured and grow – a school community for all."
Executive Headteacher Laura Rzepinski states that Bents Green School provides specialist education for young people aged 11-19 with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Communication and Interaction difficulties, aiming to enable students to fulfil their potential in a safe, accepting and nurturing environment.
Bents Green School uses a Trauma and Mental Health Informed Approach to support students, with a Trauma and Mental Health Informed Practitioner delivering regular trauma-informed training and support for staff. The approach includes PACE (building trusting relationships, emotional connections, containment and a sense of security) and therapies such as Sand Play Therapy and Lego Therapy to help students engage with learning and manage trauma-related needs.
Bents Green School is a secondary school for young people aged 11-19 and all attendees have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Admissions follow Sheffield City Council policy; parents/carers should speak with their current SENCO. When applying, the school reviews each child’s EHCP and usually visits them in their current school, and the school then assigns a site (Ringinglow, Gleadless, Enterprise Works, Handsworth/Westfield) that best meets the child’s needs; families do not choose a site themselves.
