Welcome to Thorne King Edward's Website. We are a friendly, vibrant and very popular two-form entry Primary School in Thorne, Doncaster with 384 children aged 3 to 11. We have a 52 place Nursery, and have Reception through to Year 6. The school is organised in 3 phases – Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6). Our aim is to foster a life long love of learning, and develop inquiring minds; enabling all our children to overcome barriers and reach their full potential. We are proud of every child who enters our door at King Edward. We can see the potential of every child and encourage, encourage, and encourage. We praise loudly, and recognize the achievements of the children regularly and routinely. We strive to ensure that our children value themselves as unique individuals, celebrating diversity and respecting differences. We work together as a community to enable all our children to grow to be responsible citizens and successful learners, with high aspirations, who know how to make a positive contribution to their community and the wider society. Education is a partnership between home and school, and we place a great deal of emphasis on our strong partnership with our parents and carers, and the community. We believe that children learn best when both home and school work together. If you would like any more information about the school, or to arrange a visit, please contact us. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you. Mr Matt Petch Headteacher
