Welcome to our wonderful school. We offer a warm welcome to our website which provides information about our school in Barnsley town centre. Joseph Locke Primary School celebrates its seventeenth birthday this year. Named after a locally educated Victorian engineer, we are a thriving, inclusive, multicultural school offering exciting and engaging learning opportunities for all children.

National Schools Breakfast Programme (NSBP) provision includes Breakfast Club Run by Mrs Ward and staff in the School Hall 7:40am-8:40am at £2.50 per session (with a free breakfast option for vulnerable families). A playground Bagels/Bagel Grab and Go service operates on KS1/KS2 playground 8:35am-8:45am. After-school wrap-around care is called 'Hopscotch' with 3:15-4:30 at £3.50 per session or 3:15-5:45 at £7.50 per session. Nursery wrap-around care costs are 7:40-8:40 £3.00 per session; 3:30-4:30 £4.00 per session; 3:30-5:45 £9.00 per session. All sessions must be booked and paid for in advance using the School Gateway app.

SEND Provision

Joseph Locke Primary School provides an inclusive curriculum and SEND provision in line with the SEN Code of Practice and the Equality Act. The Local Authority SEND Services and Provision can be found as part of the Local Offer. The four broad areas of need addressed are Communication and Interaction (SLCN, ASD), Cognition and Learning (MLD, SpLD), Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH), and Sensory and/or physical needs (PD, VI, HI, MSI). The SENDCo is Faye Wood ([email protected]) and is available in school Monday-Wednesday.

Admissions Criteria

To apply for a school place you must first contact Barnsley Council's admissions department (01226 773677). Then you must complete an application form (Reception) or a transfer form (in-year). Admissions will write to you confirming if your child is eligible for a place. If eligible you must contact the school to confirm your place and we can then enrol your child onto our register.

Financial Information

Breakfast Club costs £2.50 per session (7:40-8:40) with a breakfast option on the KS2/KS1 playground. A free bagel option is available on the playgrounds at 8:35-8:45 courtesy of Magic Breakfast.
